Jose Padilla

Erich Speckin and Michael Sinke are Retained/Appointed by the Federal Public Defender’s office in Miami, Florida in the United States V Jose Padilla case. (Commonly referred to as the “Dirty Bomber” case). The examinations included ink identification, ink comparison, infrared, ESDA, and fingerprint analysis.

State of Texas Vs. Brewer Et. Al.
Several different experts including David Townsend and Leonard Speckin from Speckin Forensic Laboratories are appointed by the Jasper County Judge to conduct an analysis of the crime scene and evidence associated with a dragging death in Jasper, Texas. Work by the FBI, BATF, and Texas Department of Public Safety was checked for accuracy.

State of Wyoming Vs. Winters
Speckin Forensics is appointed by the State of Wyoming, Public Defender’s office to perform DNA analysis.

State Of Louisiana Vs. Anthony Bell
Mike Sinke is approved in a capital multiple homicide case to examine forensic evidence in a shooting, including fingerprints on bullets.

State of Missouri Vs. Duone Hairston
Roger Bolhouse of Speckin Forensics is retained by the Federal Public Defender’s office to analyze plastic bags and trace evidence for chemical similarities and/or differences.

State of Illinois Vs. Andrew Tunk
Dr. Marco Scarpetta, one of Speckin Forensic Laboratories DNA Experts, was appointed by the Lee County Circuit Court to observe and evaluate the sampling and testing of samples by the State Police Forensic Laboratory.

Speckin Forensic Laboratories is appointed by the Circuit Court of Ogle County to perform testing on a semen sample. Based on the results of that test, a further appointment was issued to perform DNA analysis.

Commonwealth of Kentucky Vs. Quincy Cross
Speckin Forensics Laboratory is appointed by a Circuit Court judge in a capital murder case to analyze a notebook kept by a witness and to perform Ink Dating. The task included checking the work performed by the FBI Laboratory and the Ink Analysis performed by the United States Secret Service Laboratory. Testimony was given in the case.

Conti Vs. United States Department of Agriculture
Erich Speckin was retained by the U.S. Attorney to analyze a diary by the plaintiff and perform an Ink Dating analysis. Once the results were disclosed, the case was resolved, potentially saving the government $6 Million.

Roger Bolhouse of Speckin Forensic Laboratories is appointed to re-examine footwear. An error was found that the Police Examiner had identified the wrong shoe with the evidence print. The state expert was withdrawn and not used at trial.
