MAJOR CONTRIBUTIONS TO ATF

Developed the first procedure in the United States for the identification and dating of writing inks

Developed the forensic applications of gas chromatography and atomic absorption

Established a National Ink Tagging Program

Established the capability to conduct arson examinations

Instrumental in the establishment of a Serology Section in the laboratory
